My 3g grandparents were Ambrose HOUGHTON (b 4 Sep 1788, Colerain, Hampshire, MA, d 15 Nov 1880 Creston, Medina OH, buried Moundhill Cemetery, Medina Co.) and Lucy POWELL (b 21 Apr 1797 Great Barrington, Berkshire, MA, d 27 Jan 1876 Medina Co. OH, buried Moundhill Cemetery). There is a biography and sketch of Ambrose in "History of Medina County and Ohio," Chicago, Baskin & Battey, 1881.

My 2g grandparents were Lucy Ann HOUGHTON (b 18 Feb 1824 Truxton, Cortland, NY, d 4 Oct 1858 Medina Co. OH, buried Moundhill Cemetery) and William STINSON (b 29 Aug 1822 PA, d 31 Jul 1885 Wentworth, Newton, MO). Lucy and William were married 22 Feb 1848 in Medina Co. OH.

I have found some conflicting information on these folks. Is Moundhill Cemetery in Seville or Guilford Township? Does anyone know parents or siblings of Ambrose HOUGHTON?

William STINSON married second 12 Apr 1859 Medina Co. OH Mrs. Anna HOWER EVERHARDT who also was born in PA. Does anyone know parents or siblings of William STINSON?

Hello Listers,

I have a Marriage Certificate dated May 14, 1877 certifying Margaret Sutton was wed to Martin Brogan. The Minister's name is difficult to decipher; I believe it is F. X. Nunan or Nieman. I would like to find his name and church so that I can continue my research. I believe the family was Catholic. Could anybody help a neighbor?

Researching: SUTTON, BROGAN, HOHMANN, TUBBS, MARSHALL of Medina County.

Many thanks, Maura McCormick, Cleveland, OH

Mrs. Stone and her daughters Lucy FIRMAN and Emily WELTON moved to the Branch Rd. area of Medina County in about 1833. Orson married Asenath KIMBER and had 3 sons, Gilbert (b. Ohio 8/30/1845), William (b abt. 1849 in Ohio) and Levi (b. 7/1853 in Ohio). Gilbert married Maranda J. PATTERSON. Levi married Delpha BOWMAN. Although I am a descendant of Gilbert and Maranda, I am interested in all of these lines.

I'm, Gerald Patterson - born 1925 and raised in Lodi, Medina Co. OH. Although I can't seem to match to the names you are searhing-- I'm wondering what kind of Patterson group you are part of. My dad was Wilbur C. Patterson , b. 1902 in Coshocton Co. son of Harry and Leah Clarrissa Madison Patterson, My mother was Jennie Strouse b. 1904 in West Salem. Would be interested if any of my many relatives who were in the Medina, Wayne & Asland Co. areas in recent years might match to any of yours. I am Gerald Patterson, b. 1925 -Grad of 1943 class of Lodi H.S. (We had Zimmerman classmates.). I moved to Fl in 1965 and am now retired from the Fl Univesity system and living in Land O'Lakes, FL ---Pat

Gerald . . . thanks for the response. I'm not sure how our Patterson's connect, or if they do but I will watch out for your names as I research. I am specifically looking for a Robert Patterson who, according to both census records for his daughter Maranda J. Patterson and her death certificate, was from Canada. Unfortunately I don't have any dates for him. He was married to a Rosina McIntyre from Massacnusetts, again no dates. Maranda J. Patterson was born in Ohio, 7/6/1845 (census & death cert.) and married my gg grandfather, Gilbert H. Stone in abt. 1867, probably in Ohio. I have been unable to locate Robert & Rosina Patterson so far in the 1870 census (or any other) but I haven't given up. Gilbert's family was concentrated in Medina County, but other than Ohio, Maranda's family could come from any part of that state. Let me know if you run into them in your research.
