Stoaks sisters

My Medina surenames are Stoaks, Perkins, Dodge, Devin and Gillett. I have a few old family photos of the families mentioned above from Medina Co. One that I especially like is of the Stoaks sisters at a Stoaks family reunion held in Weymouth Ohio, Medina Co, in the year 1897. It went on for three days and was held at the old home place of Edward Smith Perkins . Edward was married to one of the Stoaks sisters (Clara Adaline Stoaks.) and he came to Medina Co with his folks in 1834. Settled near Weymouth. He was pretty active in the community and served as Township Trustee and Justice of the Peace. In 1875, he was elected a Representative, on the Republican ticket, of Medina Co., to the State Legislature, and was re-elected in 1877.

The other Stoaks sister in the photo is Sarah E. Stoaks who married Cyrus B. Gellitt in Medina 1853. He died in 1864 during the Civil War.

Miranda Wells is also in the photo, was married to Thomas Jefferson Stoaks, another Civil War Vet.

The youngest lady in the photo was Adeline L. Perkins, daughter of Edward S. Perkins and Clara Adeline Stoaks. I believe that Edward was also a Civil War Vet.

During the 1870 Census in Medina, Julia Miranda Stoaks Devin was listed as a "dressmaker" and her sister Sarah E. Stoaks was listed as "milliner". Sarah was living with her sister since her husband had been killed in the war.
